Hello all! We had a great time getting to know The Village of Clifton and its kind people. We were set up in the heart of downtown right across from their historic Opera House! This is still in use as an Opera house and inside is simply cute.
We got the opportunity to meet some new vendor friends, eat delicious food, and enjoy great entertainment.
Some of our vendor neighbors said that it had rained the past few years that they had done this event and I’m happy to report that the weather was bright and sunny. If you weren’t wearing sunblock some might find that they would be a bit red the days after. We definitely found that with sunblock!
Clifton Gorge truly is a beautiful village that is just a 6-minute drive from Yellow Springs. Their historic schoolhouse, which houses their Shoebox Theater, stands at the center of town. The crossroads of the village is where the main event takes place with cultural performances from The Dayton Celtic Academy with traditional river dancing, The Sayaw FilipinOH dance group, and The Aurora Fire Dancers to name just a few. There was also a classic car show which is something that we always enjoy.
One of our favorite bits of entertainment was the Aurora fire dancers that put on a great display using the ancient art of Poi to express their female empowerment and beauty. The playlist that they danced to stuck with us and one of the dancers was kind enough to provide me the Spotify link to enjoy on our own time.
We were able to sample delicious cheese curds from Youngs Jersey Dairy for a quick bite between customers. We also had breakfast from Lit Litty’s which helped us have the energy to get through! Then The Rolling Oasis cooled us off with one of the best mango smoothies we have had in ages!
It was a good weekend overall and we will look upon it fondly as we remember it for years to come. Coming up for Twisted Picks will be the Beavercreek Popcorn Festival on September 10th and 11th on Dayton Xenia Road! We are excited about this one especially because it is in our own backyard!!
